Sylvia O’Brien is a remarkable performer of oratorio repertoire and has been guest soprano with Ireland’s leading choral groups. As a soloist and member of the National Chamber Choir (1998-2003), she toured internationally, recorded and broadcasted on television and radio. During this time Sylvia also had the opportunity to work with international conductors and ensembles and perform a variety of musical styles from Gregorian to contemporary. Sylvia will be accompanied by Debbie Armstrong, pianist, who has performed to great acclaim as soloist and chamber musician on three continents. She has also received notable awards for her playing in the U.S., Ireland.  And introduced by Liz Nolan, who trained in voice, oboe and piano in Dublin, she currently presents ‘Lunchtime Choice’ for Lyric Fm.

Roustem Saitkoulov recital (Book Now)

Born in Kazan (Russia) in 1971, Roustem Saitkoulov began his studies at the local conservatory and then under Elisso Virssaladze at the Moscow Conservatory. He performs frequently with orchestras across Europe, including the Prague Symphony Orchestra, the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic, the Capella Istropolitana and the Tonhalle in Zurich, as well as giving recitals and chamber music concerts in Russia, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Czechoslovakia, USA, Canada and Japan.

Hunka, Roewer, Butt String Trio Recital Catheine Hunka

Acclaimed violinist, Katherine Hunka, leader of the Irish Chamber Orchestra, Joachim Roewer, principal viola with the Irish Chamber Orchestra, and William Butt, who combines Professorship of Cello at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin with a solo performing career, have recently formed a string trio. The programme will include Mozart.


Cóir Chúil Aodha / Coolea Choir

Peadar Ó Riada will conduct a choir of 8-10 Coolea residents in a programme of his own distinctive music, most of which is inspired by the land and history of his home on the Cork-Kerry border near the Sullane River. Courtesy of Canon David Williams, Church of Ireland, Rector.

Peadar Ó Riada, musician, composer, journalist and film director, was born in 1954, and is the eldest child of Seán Ó Riada (1931-1971). Seán Ó Riada is the most important Irish composer of the 20th-century, whose work transformed the perception of Ireland's traditional musical heritage while also enriching its classical tradition. Peadar has been director of Cóir Chúil Aodha since 1971. His music is largely in the Irish idiom, and includes concertos, song cycles and a large body of liturgical work.


St. John the Baptist Church - Mass
Saturday 15th July 7.30pm. The regular Saturday evening Mass will be sung by Cóir Chúil Aodha, conducted by Peadar Ó Riada, compliments of Kinsale Arts Week, by kind permission of Canon O'Mahony, Fr. McSweeney and the Kinsale Folk Group.

Monday : David Keating, Classical Guitarist;
David Keating, who is 14 years old, began playing guitar at home at the age of five, and two years later was accepted into the Cork School of Music where he studies with well-known guitarist, Jerry Creedon. At the age of nine won the Under 16 Classical Guitar competition at the Feis Maitiu in Cork. He has played at numerous concerts and has featured at the Proms in Farmleigh House, Dublin.

Bogna Siegal is a graduate of the Academy of Music, Wroclaw, Poland. She conducted a choir in Poland and is a Music Therapist. Bogna teaches piano in Kinsale, and has many enthusiastic pupils.

Thursday - Joanne Walsh, Soprano;
Joanne, a promising young soprano, is a native of Clonakilty, and graduated from the Cork School of Music with a degree in Music in 2004. Singing was her chosen performance art. Joanne is 23 years of age, and studies singing with Ms. Mary Mc Sweeney.

Friday : Belcanto Brass Quintet

The Belcanto Brass Quintet was formed in November of 2005. It features Gerard Condon and Jocelyn Williams on Trumpets, Louise Murphy on French Horn, Pat Fitzgerald on Trombone and Damien Cotter on Tuba. The Quintet plays a variety of music ranging from classical to jazz.

(Leave Kinsale  on the road past the Scilly Dam and the Spaniard, and turn left at Summercove School, plenty of on-road parking; or walk along the Scilly Walk/Lower Road, allowing 40 minutes). A mini bus will be available. Enquire at the KAW Box Office.

Sean studied at the Royal College of Music, and attended Master Classes with Maestro Andre Navarra at the Academia Chigiana, Siena.  He has played with the English Sinfonia and was principal Cello at the annual Messiah of 1,000 voices at the Albert Hall. His programme will include cello favourites such as 'The Swan' by St.Seans, the Elegie by Faure and the spectacular Variations on a Roccoco Theme by Tchaikovsky.
